Serving the United States Web Design System allowed me to work closely with developers, accessibility specialists, and researchers to streamline content operations and understand user needs. As a content strategist for the team, it was my job to distill complex information into Plain Language. Working with USWDS helped me learn about managing content at the code level.
The U.S. Web Design system is a technical product, but federal agencies are required to write in Plain Language. Ensuring that technical content was readable and understandable was a particular challenge of this role.

The U.S. Web Design System is an open source, transparent project. It's a small team, so managing contributors and contributor experience was a big lift.
I proposed, designed a more transparent, self-service driven, collaborative contribution process that is now live on the site.
